Yes, it really was 2 ferry cruises in one day. We arrived in Chania at 6:15 am and ‘booted’ it to the southern tip of the Island of Crete to catch the next ferry from Paliochora to Agia Roumeli.
Check out Palaichora here:

What a beautiful sail! We took the little car ferry from Paliochora to Agia Roumelli [the small town at the end of the Samaria Gorge] and it was absolutely lovely. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samari%C3%A1_Gorge
The car ferry takes about 12 – 15 cars and about 50 passengers and chugs along at a reasonable pace to be comfortable on deck and get us to our destination without too much wasted time. http://www.anendyk.gr/pages/en/timetable.php?lang=EN
Just 1 and 1/2 hours later we were landing at the dock of one of the smallest villages we have yet encountered in Greece. About 12 houses and 6 hotels and restaurants make up this very nice seashore village.

Highly recommended for lazying around or if you are an avid hiker!
