Well we purchased tickets to Mexico for this winter and we are really looking forward to it. We also decided to take a side trip from Cabo to Chetumal and check out the other side of the land mass. Interjet had some great prices so we went with the San Jose del Cabo to Chetumal flight through Mexico City. All is well… not quite.
When we received our e-tickets it showed the ‘Fare Rules’ for Premium Fare. I did not clue into this until we had a family member become ill and we decided not to do the side trip to Chetumal. I looked up the fare rules on my ticket, determined that I could transfer the funds into a Club account and use the ticket money later. I went about creating a Club InterJet account to deposit the credit from the tickets.
I called Interjet…well, some telephone numbers work and some don’t, some work from Canada and some don’t. The trick is to make a running list of the numbers and where they work and try each one!
When I finally spoke to an Interjet customer service rep I was told that the fare was not a premium fare but that it was a ‘light’ fare. Now, here’s the rub… no where on my ticket fare rules does it mention a ‘light’ fare. I tried (to no avail) to explain this to the agent. I suggested that when they issued the ticket with the ‘premium fare rules’ that is what I thought I had. They sent the wrong fare rules with my ticket but would not admit it. I even sent them a screen shot of the whole ticket. Again…to no avail!
To make a very long story a little shorter the Customer Service Rep sent in a Report (I never received a copy as requested) to determine if I could cancel the tickets and get a ‘credit’ for future travel (I did not ask for a refund). I received 3 email responses all stating that the ticket is non-refundable and I cannot get a credit to my Interjet ‘wallet’ account.
Ok, so I decide to bite-the-bullet (so to speak) and just try to change the dates of the tickets. I have now determined the new dates for the travel we had to postpone. Well, wish me luck… as that is my goal for today. See if I can get dates changed by following the ‘light’ fare rules …
I’ll let you know how it goes!
