This small and sleepy village of Akrogiali – “the end of the beach” still has a number of good restaurants to choose from. The day of our arrival when we could not find our apartment we stopped at the Taverna Akrogiali and the owner took my husband in his own car to show him where the building was located as he could not speak English! What a great fellow and so helpful.
Later we went back to the Taverna for a drink and some tasty food. I had the calamari and my husband had grilled octopus and of course a carafe of wine!
We decided that it was good and went back the second night as well. I ordered the ‘ribs’ and my husband ordered ‘souvlaki’ …well that did not go as planned and my husband had ‘young goat ribs’ and I had pork souvlaki! We both enjoyed or trade very much.
The apartment where we stayed had a full kitchen but I don’t come to Greece to cook… and the small restaurant right next door to us had a wonderful breakfast omelette with wonderful coffee! So, there was no way I was leaving without having one of those…made to perfection with bacon, ham and Gouda cheese… and the smallest little jug of cream I have ever seen!
All-in-all a good variety of food and all very tasty for a small village ‘at the end of the beach’!
