The next stop on our whirlwind tour of this area of Laos was a small town where we stayed in a Guest House called the Vilayvong. Check it out here:
Located close to the river there were numerous water sports to participate in around the corner. Waterfalls, swimming, kayaking, and tubing can be purchased as a ‘package deal’ for about $35 US. Not a bad price to pay for a full day of activities which included transport and an amazing lunch!
We did a little reconnaissance around the town and walked up and down the main street (I had caught a cold and was not up to water sports or the getting wet at this point) in search of lunch and can say that the town is completely deprived of tourists during the day as most come for the water sports. The restaurants were empty and only a few were operating. Most were awaiting the return of the tour groups for dinner. We did manage to find a small (3 tables) restaurant open where we had a good lunch.
The rest of the group enjoyed the tubing and swimming, but also raved about the served lunch and the kayaking. A good day was had by all!
Dinner was recommended at a local restaurant by our CEO and it did not fail to please the group and our taste for something new.
Recommended for the water activities.
