Saigon and the Psycho Cyclos

The Saigon cyclo tour was fast paced and exhilarating to say the very least and terrifying at worst. The drivers were very professional but the number of cars, mopeds, and motorcycles was quite overwhelming. Some of our group thrived on the excitement and some of us were completely overcome with the sheer chaos of darting between cars, trucks and buses.

We did see some amazing sights and awesome architecture including the Catholic Cathedral built by the french and every brick was shipped in from Paris (which seems a little excessive but hey those were the days of imperialism).

The most iconic being the monument/shrine of the Buddhist monk who set himself on fire to protest the civil war in Viet Nam. People still revere him for his sacrifice and continue to place offerings and burn incense at his shrine.
